What these guides will walk you through

These guides will help you through the process of creating a restricted admin account and enrollment-only user account for our use. If you need additional help or have any questions, we're here for you.

1. Create the OU

Make an Organizational Unit to hold the enrollment account.

2. Create the user

Add an XIT Solutions user and move it into that OU.

3. Create the role

Build a restricted admin role and assign the user to it.

4. Allow the utilities

Approve the XIT Solutions ChromeOS Utilities app for that OU.

Step By Step

The four setup guides

Creating the Organizational Unit (OU)

Go to https://admin.google.com and log in with a Super Admin account
Select Organizational Units from the Directory
Click Create Organizational Unit
Name the OU
- We recommend something identifiable like "XITenroll"
- You can add a description (not required)
- The Parent Organizational Unit defaults to the primary domain (ex. @yourdomain.com)
Click Create

Creating an XIT Solutions User

Go to https://admin.google.com and log in with a Super Admin account
Select Users from the Directory
Click Add new user
Name the user
- We recommend something identifiable like "xitsolutions.enroll"
Click Manage user's password, organizational unit, and profile photo
Ensure the user is moved to the OU you created in the previous section
Click Add new user

Create a new Admin Role

Go to https://admin.google.com and log in with a Super Admin account
In the left menu, go to Account > Admin Roles
Click Create new role
Name the role "XIT Solutions's Chromebook Utilities" and click Continue
Select the following privileges
- Organizational Units > Read
- Manage ChromeOS Devices
Click Continue
Click Create Role

Add XIT Solutions's user account to the newly created role

Find the "XIT Solutions's Chromebook Utilities" role you created and click it
Click Admins
Click Assign members
Add the XIT Solutions user account you created here
Click Assign role

Allow the XIT Solutions ChromeOS Utilities

Go to https://admin.google.com and log in with a Super Admin account
In the left menu, go to Security > Access and data control > API cpntrols
Under the center App access control, select Manage third-party app access
Select Configure new app
Paste the following value into the search box and click Search
- XIT GOOGLE CLOUD ID
In the results, click "XIT Solutions Chromebook Mover" or "XIT Solutions ChromeOS Utilities"
For scope, click Select org units. Find the OU that the XIT Solutions user account is located in, select it, and click Continue
For Access to Google Data, select "Limited" and click Continue
Click Finish
Confirm the parental consent for that OU
